Pretoria, South Africa – Sixteen UN information centres (UNICs) in sub-Saharan Africa, marking World Information Society Day, today launched new websites in an effort to bring the work of the United Nations closer to its local constituencies around the continent.

Lesotho's government has approved a policy to care for its growing population of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC).

The year 2006 marks the 61st Anniversary of the signing of the Charter of the United Nations.  The Government of Lesotho and the resident UN agencies celebrated United Nations Day on Tuesday 24^th October 2006 at the National Convention Centre in Maseru.
